Media Center Policies
All library cards are kept in the library and located on the shelf directly below the check-out computer on the circulation desk. Cards are organized by color-coded grade levels and remain in their homeroom teacher’s cup.
Kindergarten - Students in Kindergarten may select one book from an area identified by the Media Specialist to check out during each visit to the library as long as the previous book was returned. An assortment of books on specific genres will be made available to students throughout the year.
First Grade - Students in First Grade will be taught how to use a shelf-marker and select books that are appropriate for their reading levels. They are allowed to check out one book at a time.
Second Grade - Students in Second Grade are allowed to check out two books at a time. One book should be on their reading level - according to their STAR testing report - and one book may be a free choice.
Third Grade - Students in Third Grade are allowed to check out two books at a time. One book should be on their reading level - according to their STAR testing report - and one book may be a free choice.
Fourth Grade - Students in Fourth Grade are allowed to check out two books at a time. One book should be on their reading level - according to their STAR testing report - and one book may be a free choice.
Fifth Grade - Students in Fifth Grade are allowed to check out two books at a time. One book should be on their reading level - according to their STAR testing report - and one book may be a free choice.
